School Time

Today our littlest man started pre-school….

We debated if he was too young. If it would be a good thing for him.

He isn’t talking much yet,  and probably needs a bit more of a push and some social interaction.

We thought pre-school at 2 might be better than waiting until 3.  So today, we let go and watched our baby become a toddler….

He had a good first day and will go twice a week for now.

Nicholas gets his daddy to himself 2 mornings a week, too. Although I think he was sad not to be able to stay today when we dropped off Jackson. I think he missed his “may-me”.

Today was exactly one year ago that Nicholas started pre-school at 3.

1st Day of Preschool

And this afternoon we realized…they wore the same sweatshirt to their first day of school….

…maybe it’s happenstance…

…..I see it as good luck….

A Peak at Fall Decorating, Weekend Stuff and ScrapTiffany Monday

It always makes me smile when we open up Nicholas's back pack and find his weekly report with all this happiness and lots of good praise. He loves school and I love to see him doing well. And I guess Mike is picking up on photos I like to have, because he took this one Friday afternoon on his phone and sent it to me.

Mike and I both stayed up late Friday night playing. So we weren't really thrilled when our dog Mandi had an accident and threw up in the bed at 5 a.m. She's been sick and we think the medicine is bothering her tummy. Our poor sweet girl.

The upside is we got out early to do some planting.  The heat this summer has been awful, and our plants suffered. It was still in the 110 range over the weekend. After spending a fortune over the years to keep all kinds of flowering plants in our courtyard, we gave up. We planted Lantana in the pots and at the base of the fountain. I swear those things are like weeds and will grow in any kind of situation, at least they have color. So here's hoping to saving a few bucks at the nursery.

Our little herb garden bit the dust by July too. I planted a new one with some basil, rosemary and cilantro. I'll see how it goes. We also decorated for fall. I love my little scarecrows.

I'll share a few more fall decoration pictures later this week, but here is a glimpse of one arrangement I have around the house.

This week's assignment at ScrapTiffany was to use 4 photos on a page. I tend to use 1 to 2 photos on a page, but I have been trying to use more recently. So this was a good assignment

I cropped down 4 standard 4x6 prints to 4x3.  I put new Recollection's border punch to work. I picked it up at Michael's for $5.50 after the 50% off sale and Friday's 5 hour coupon for 15% off entire purchase. This was my only scrappy purchase that day, since my shopping mission was to find fall decorations.

I also used Studio Calico's Mr. Huey's Mist on the chipboard. I love that navy, and that white I'm pretty smitten with that one too. All 10 colors are a must have whether you like to mist or not (because you will want to after you get your hands on these)!

Check out the rest of the design team's work over at ScrapTiffany today and Friday. Lot's of good stuff.

Check back tomorrow for ScrapTiffany's Tuesday Tutorial. I have a freebie to go along with it.

Friday Fun Stuff

Just one more work day to get through and then a 3 day weekend! Yippee! Yesterday I got home from work and  found this on my front porch. I can't wait to open it up and play...

I'm pretty excited about trying out making my own stamps, and I didn't know it but you can make your own embossing dies too. I know what I will be playing with this weekend.

Here is a quick card I made this past weekend.

I love that Dear Lizzy ribbon. It can dress up a simple card super fast.

Nicholas loves school and it makes me happy. Just a few minutes ago Mike told him they needed to get moving to take him to school. Nicholas said "School today, I love school. I'm going to school mommy to see Mrs. Jacci". I hope he always loves school. I finished up one more layout from his first year in pre-school.

Two more layouts and his first year will be finished. Then on to this year. Happy Weekend! Thanks for stopping by.

School Day Layout

Nicholas recently started his second year of pre-school. I thought I should probably scrap a page or two from his first year.  He started in January when he turned 3.  Recently I saw a post on Stephanie Howell's blog about her thoughts when her daughter started her first day of school and how she felt seeing her walk away that first day. Her writing inspired my journaling on this layout from Nicholas's first day of pre-school.

Supplies from Mosh Posh August 2010 Kit.

It is almost the weekend and I cannot wait! It's been a long busy week. I am planning on making these on Saturday. And Nicholas told me he would help.

Thanks for stopping by. Hope you have a great Thursday!

First Day of Pre-Shcool & the Slice

Some crazy person in Arizona thinks it's a good idea for the kids to start back to school this week.  It was probably 108 yesterday.

We live in a semi-year round school district, so the kids only get 8 weeks off for summer. The pre-school Nicholas attends is at the elementary school, so his schedule is the same as the schools.  He has been super excited for the past week to go back.  He even cooperated for a mini 1st day of school photo shoot.

At least temporarily....I'll take it as progress...

He was telling me he was done.  I am sure one day he will be mad at me for posting his funny face. :)  I went in late so Mike and I could take him to school, so did everyone else.  It was very crowded and lots of cameras with all the "mamarazzi" in full force.  I felt right at home.

I almost laughed when I saw someone else taking this same picture of her kid from behind, must be a fellow scrapbooker.

Sunday we went out school supply shopping for the classroom wish list. I have been eying this for a while, debating if I should get it or not.  Then it goes on sale 40% off at Michael's.

What's a girl to do? Make a card of course...

Have a great day!  I can't wait to start checking out CHA pictures and videos tonight after the kiddos go to bed.

And just like that it's over....

Color Me Daisy, that is. We sold off out the clearance mystery boxes in less than a week.  They are stuffed full and  ready to be picked up tomorrow.  So with that done, Color Me Daisy is no longer.  I have to admit that I realized while we were packing up the boxes late into the night last Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, that I will very much NOT miss packing kits. I would much rather play with paper, and pretty sparkly things.

Speaking of playing I pretty much used up all of my Mosh Posh May kit and here is the last layout I made. I love the Lily Bee colors.  I was pretty excited just now, I went to grab the Lily Bee blog link and saw one of my layouts I posted last week was in their Friday Faves post.  How cool is that? :)

"U 2 boys 'r' so Sweet"

I really had hoped to scrap some this weekend, but I was so tired last night I crashed early and this afternoon I ended up organizing my craft room instead.  So maybe tonight I'll get back to scrapping,

Nicholas had his last day of preschool this week.  They had a water and ice cream party, I had planned to volunteer that day, but it being quarter end at work I had to cancel. We really like his teacher, Ms. Jackie and we are glad Nicholas will have her again next year as his teacher.

I made his teacher, class assistants and speech therapist summer bags with beach towels, sunscreen, water bottles and a magazine.  I whipped up some matching cards with just a package of Sassafras Felties, a scrap of Basic Grey paper, a punch and a couple of stamps.

At the beginning of the year I did a major clean out of the craft room.  My LSS, Scrapbooks Etc., had it's semi-annual yard sale in March. I sold so much stuff I ended up with almost $600 in store credit, and up until this week I hadn't used any of it. With new lines starting to showing up, I made a trip over to the store on Thursday and picked up lots of goodies.

That Crafters Workshop star template should be fun for misting and painting. I am in love the new Bella Blvd. Man's House line (I even ordered a kit from Citrus Tree Studio), and think it may work for a project I have in mind. Nicholas loves trains, so I have a few pictures already for that new stamp. And  I have on more than one occasion wished I had an oval punch when making a card or needing a journaling spot. Also, I recently got the I Top on Scrapbooksteals, but the deal didn't include the small punch, so now I have it. It makes good layered flowers too.

I picked up more of Girl's Paperie On Holiday papers and some embellishments. They will be great for summer pages with or without actually traveling anywhere.

I really like Pink Paislee's new Starlight collection.  I also ordered a couple of pieces from Stop and Scrap and I thought the Basic Grey Basics stickers worked well with the papers.  Should be fun for boy pages or 4th of July pages.

Have you seen the new Echo Park line? It is so summery and happy, and those new Cosmo Cricket little alpha's are so perfect with it, as was the Sassafras Me Likey Ice Cream paper. I also ordered a couple of other pieces of this from Stop and Scrap.  I think this will be cute for a summer banner.

Studio Calico had the paper with the frogs in one of their add on's this month, but I passed on it over another add on I liked more.  But I still  had to have this paper. I also found these others from We R Memory Keepers 72 and Sunny line. Isn't it fun?!

I also picked up most of the new Studio Calico Documentary line. It will be fun for some travel pages and I love the hot air balloon. I have the Fab Rips and Alphas coming in a separate order.

So I have lots of new stuff to play with.  And best of all I didn't spend anything for this since I had a store credit.

First day of pre-school

Today was Nicholas's first day of pre-school. I think it was much harder on mom then Nicholas. I don't even think he noticed when we left, he had so many new things to explore. He had a great time. He loved his backpack too.

Looking for our classroom.

The classroom was so much fun, lots of new books to explore.

After a full morning, we picked him up and headed back home.
